The Salt River:
The Salt is fishing really well right now, The last 3 weeks have been the best fishing weeks so far this year. There are a number of hatches coming off the Salt River right now, the majority being Mayflies. Lighter mayfly patterns like Pale Morning Dunns, Light Hendricksons, Purple Haze, and even a Blue Wing Olive are bringing the most fish to the boat if you want to cast small flies. Fish are also biting Green Drakes, a few Elk Hair Caddis and Terrestrial/Beetle with a dropper is also fishing quite well. Hopper patterns are not working very well yet, but we should see that changing in the coming days.
The Greys:
The Greys is very clear and fishing well. Try Yellow Sallies, Caddis, or other stone flies. Lighter Mayflies and Gray Mayflies are working well on the greys. Hoppers are starting to work as well.
The Snake:
The Upper Snake and Snake River Canyon have been fishing well, with similar patterns listed for the Greys. Late morning mayfly hatches are the most prevalent, with caddis and Mayflies (PMD) hatching again in the evening.
The South Fork of the Snake:
The annual salmonfly hatch is winding down on the South Fork, but the Golden Stones are out. It’s a great time to hit the South Fork. Mayflies, Caddis, and Nymphs are also working well on the South Fork. Palisades is still at over 80% capacity and the flow out of the dam is pretty stable at around 9500 CFS.
